Adolescent therapy

~ ages 13 to 17 ~

An initial interview will take place during the first session with the adolescent and the parent(s) or caretaker(s). Following the assessment, the treatment will be tailored based on the adolescent’s presenting problem(s) and circumstances.

Change usually characterise the teenage years.  

 

During the teenage years it is necessary for the teenager to develop his/her own identity and start the journey to independence.

However, during this difficult developmental time, teenagers might experience the following:

  • Adjustment problems (e.g., moving, new school, illness, parents’ divorce, etc.)

  • Anxiety, panic attacks

  • Behavioural problems

  • Body image

  • Bullying

  • Challenges related to self esteem

  • Depression

  • Eating disorders

  • Emotional regulation Grief

  • Identity confusion

  • Parental conflict

  • Relationship problems

  • Trauma
